A Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested Friday afternoon on serious charges.
Kentucky State Police arrested 38-year old Deputy Brandon Hawkins on charges of third degree rape, third degree sodomy and official misconduct. He was being held in the Christian County Jail on $5,000 bond.
A news release from KSP says in June, detectives learned of alleged misconduct involving Deputy Hawkins and a former inmate of the Christian County Jail. The female was released to a program supervised by the Department of Corrections. The investigation revealed that Deputy Hawkins allegedly had an intimate relationship with the female while she was still under the supervision of the Department of Corrections.
The sexual offenses are class D felonies and official misconduct is a class A misdemeanor.
Christian County Sheriff's Captain Chris Miller says Hawkins had been suspended with pay Wednesday when the department learned he was under investigation. His status has now been changed to "suspended without pay" following the arrest.
