A Hopkinsville man was arrested on DUI charges Thursday night and made matters worse by allegedly threatening to kill the families of the arresting police officers.
The report from Christian County Sheriff's Deputy Eddie Frye says Constable Kevin Graham stopped 47-year old Mark Wiles of North Main Street a little after 9 p.m.
Constable Graham told Deputy Frye that he saw Wiles driving into oncoming traffic on Madisonville Road and that he had to run off the road to avoid wrecking. Wiles allegedly admitted to drinking when approached by Deputy Frye, but said there was nothing police could do about it.
Wiles reportedly refused field sobriety tests and the breath test and began making threats to kill both officers and their families. He allegedly kicked Deputy Frye while being taken into custody.
Wiles was charged with DUI, possession of an open container, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, assault of a police officer and terroristic threatening.
