Several years after it received its designation, Hopkinsville's TVA megasite remains vacant, but Mayor Dan Kemp hopes that's not the case for much longer.
Mayor Kemp appeared on the Lite 98.7 Early Bird Show recently and said the 2,100 acre site near Interstate 24 on the south side of Hopkinsville has been re-certified again as a megasite ready to host a major industry.
The South West Kentucky Economic Development Council and other officials and entities continue to market the site and Mayor Kemp says the ideal scenario would be an automobile plant taking advantage of the ground.
Clarksville's TVA megasite was purchased by Hemlock Semiconductor, which has all but gone out business before full operations ever began. Hemlock laid off a vast majority of its employees earlier this year.
