Fort Campbell soldiers assigned to the 1-32nd Cavalry Regiment have safely returned from their deployment in Afghanistan and enjoyed a day of fun today with fellow comrades.
1-32nd Cavalry Regiment Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Paul Taylor says now that all of his soldiers are back from deployment, he wanted to host an event that brought soldiers and their families together for a day of fun.
This morning hundreds of soldiers participated in about 10 competitions ranging from a 10K run to carrying 200 pounds of weights across the finish line.
Lieutenant Joseph Alvillar says he decided to participate in several competitions to get into shape and also test his physical abilities.
Specialist Matthew Pietrangelo also says the competitions are a great way for soldiers to relax and forget the stresses of deployment.
The troop with the top score will be presented the Commanders Cup and certificates will be awarded to soldiers with the highest scores from each competition.
The soldiers recently returned from their nine-month deployment mission in Afghanistan, where they served as advisors to their Afghan counterparts to assist them in stabilizing their country.
